Everybody has a lowest price guarantee policy. Many big box retailers and online ecommerce websites that sell to the mass market give this guarantee. We don't. It is dishonest.
With furniture it is very difficult to find identical products at different stores. This is quite unlike the electronics or IT industries where you can find many stores selling similar products and this makes comparison easy. Model numbers are quite precise.
You can't see the inside of mattresses, sofas and panels. This fact is used by many major brands to offer a lowest price guarantee. The guarantee statement usually starts with, "If you find a similar product.....".
You will never find a similar product. Some manufacturers will work with the retailers to change the model number, change the outside cover appearance or add a centimeter to the foam layer (especially mattresses). These additions do absolutely nothing for the furnitures' comfort, aesthetics, performance or strength. This is done to create a false sense of trust to make the consumer feel he has gotten the best deal possible.
When you do want to make a claim, the following are the practiced replies you will receive:
Unfortunately the retailers are probably telling the truth in this case. Its your (the consumer) fault for believing the lowest price guarantee statement. So don't.
So look closer at many of these stores' price policies before plunging head first.
The only way to get the most bang for your hard earned dollar is to first pick a price range. Then select the product you want at that price point from different stores. If there are a lot mattresses/furniture that fit your criteria, you can probably lower your budget and keep looking to narrow down your choices. If there are hardly any mattresses/furniture that fit your budget, raise your budget till you can find a reasonable selection to choose from.
Don't believe straight away any of us guys in the industry when we say lowest price guaranteed. It is more important to get the "BEST VALUE for your DOLLAR".
